Martin, Pharm.D., M.S., is the Director of Membership Forums. In this role, Dr. Martin leads the development and implementation of strategies and programs for student and new practitioner members. Dr. Martin received her Pharm.D. from the University of Pittsburgh before completing a combined PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency at the University of Kansas Hospital. Dr. Martin holds a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy Practice from the University of Kansas. Dr. Martin is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives, currently serving on the Young Professional Committee. Gina Luchen, Pharm.D. serves as the Director of Academic Programs at ASHP. In this role, Dr. Luchen leads the development and implementation of programs and initiatives related to student pharmacists, schools and colleges of pharmacy, and pharmacy educators. This day was created by the International Pharmaceutical Federation(FIP)Council at the World Congress of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences in Istanbul, Turkey in 2009. The 25th of September is chosen as World Pharmacist Day because on this date FIP came into existence in 1912. World Pharmacist Day aims to promote and advocate the role of the pharmacist in improving health all over the world. It is well known that pharmacists across the world help people get the best from their medicines. They are also the people who advise patients on how to take medicines so that they are most effective. The theme of World pharmacist day 2022 is “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world”. This highlights how across the globe pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists and pharmacy educators are making people healthier.
